2. Tips on Foot Care

Pay particular attention to your feet. Examine them everyday including the area between the toes. Use mild soap when you give them a daily wash and then dry them thoroughly. Apply lotion if the skin is very dry but not between the toes.

  • When you examine your feet, watch for red, swollen and cuts in the skin. Cold areas may mean poor circulation while warm areas may mean infection.
  • Avoid ingrown toenails so follow the curve of the toe when you cut them.
  • Avoid going barefoot even when swimming. Swimmers' shoes are available.
  • Wear shoes that fit well and are comfortable. Leather shoes will help feet get the air circulation to stay healthy.
  • Have the podiatrist treat problems with the feet; don't do them yourself.
  • There are shoe specialists who will help make sure the shoes you buy really are a good fit since with lost sensation, you may not be able to make the correct decision.
  • Get early treatment for any foot problems.

What are the possible foot problems that you have to get early treatment for?

  • When you step on a nail and get a puncture wound
  • When you have ulcer or open sore
  • When there is a blister or cut that does not easily heal
  • When a toe is tender and red
  • When the blister or cut is infected
  • When you feel a change in pain, burning, tingling and numbness

4. Trivia: Do You Know If This Is True?

One of the HEALTHY JUICES is a combination of carrot, ginger and apple. This is supposed to boost and cleanse our system.

5. And hereís the dessert recipe we promised you.

Chocolate Cheesecake

Ingredients for the Crust:

  • 2 tablespoons sweetener, Equal
  • 1/4 cup crumbs, graham cracker
  • cooking spray, nonstick and nonfat

Ingredients for the Filling:

  • 3/4 cup sweetener, Equal
  • 11/2 ounces sugar-free and low-fat chocolate mousse
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 24 ounces fat-free cream cheese
  • 3/4 cup fat-free sour cream


  • a. Mix the graham cracker crumbs and the 2 tablespoons of Equal sweetener in a bowl.
  • b. Spray a 9-inch pie plate with the nonstick cooking spray before sprinkling the above mixture on the bottom and sides of the pie plate.
  • c. Mix the cream cheese until velvety.
  • d. Blend in sour cream and mix well.
  • e. Add chocolate mousse, sweetener, vanilla, salt and almond extract, mixing all with an electric mixer until creamy.
  • f. Pour mixture into the pie plate without disturbing the crust.
  • g. Chill for one to two hours before serving.

This recipe serves a total of 8. Each serving has 213 calories, 1 gram total fat, 0.58 grams of saturated fat, 10.5 grams of carbohydrate, 34.8 grams of protein and 15 milligrams of cholesterol
